This could be the saddest news EVER for fans of the popular series!
Apparently season six of Downton Abbey is most likely going to be the last one ever.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

According to the rumors, the writer of the show, Julian Fellowes, is stepping away from Downton in order to work on The Gilded Age, a new project for NBC set in 19th century New York City.
Which sounds AWESOME! But, does that mean Downton has to end?!?!
Well, not necessarily. ITV, the U.K. broadcaster of the show, made a statement saying:
"We wouldn't comment on speculative stories about our programs. There has been this speculation since [season] 2."How innnnnnneresting!
It is worth nothing that the show IS commissioned season-by-season, so every season COULD be the last season.

However, rumors started flying since apparently the cast were spotted actively looking for new work while in El Lay for the SAG Awards!
A source disputed those rumors by saying:
"There is other time for cast members to do other work. There are many other Sundays in the year to fill."A very good point, actually.
Fans, we're sure, aren't happy at the prospect of their Sunday nights not being filled with Huge Bonneville, Maggie Smith, Joanne Froggat, and the rest of the cast.
They can rest easy for now, since season five is currently in full swing and they're filming season six soon.
